Timothy Mering and Paul Schlitz have been practicing law for twenty-five years. We have dedicated ourselves to helping individuals obtain their Social Security and Supplemental Income benefits. Our practice encompasses practicing before the Social Security Administration as well as an appeals practice before the United States District Courts and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

We always make every effort to win your case at the administrative level, but we know we also need a strong appellate practice to make sure that the Judges are held to the letter of the Law. To this end we have argued cases in the appeals court.

In Preston vs. Heckler, The Fourth Circuit Court of appeals agreed with our argument and changed the law to prevent the government from denying benefits for failure to follow prescribed treatment without first determining that the individual had both the mental ability and financial resources to follow the proscribed therapy.
