Timothy Mering and Paul Schlitz have been practicing law for thirty-five years. We have dedicated ourselves to helping individuals obtain their Social Security and Supplemental Income benefits. Our practice encompasses practicing before the Social Security Administration as well as an appeals practice before the United States District Courts and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Timothy Mering

Timothy Mering is a Baltimore native with over 35 years of experience in the Social Security field. After graduating from Vermont Law School in 1981, Tim worked for several law firms in the Baltimore area before starting his own practice in 1998. In Tim’s 37 years of experience, he has represented over 5,000 claimants, argued appeals at the 4th Circuit Court and defended cases at Federal Court.

In his spare time, Tim enjoys rock climbing and hiking. He is an avid biker and also knows how to juggle. Tim and his wife Ellen have three children and live in the Towson area.

Paul R. Schlitz, Jr,

Paul Schlitz obtained his undergraduate degree at McDaniel College and then attended law school at the University of Baltimore. For the past 35 years Paul has been representing claimants for Social Security. In addition to his vast experience with cases at the Federal Court, Paul has also argued appeals in the 4th Circuit Court. Paul was also a speaker at the 2005 National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR).

In his spare time, Paul runs 2,000 miles per year and held the record at McDaniel College for the fastest ½ mile for 25 years. Paul also enjoys playing the piano and composes music. He lives in the Mt. Washington area with his wife, Jo and their son.
